What is SPOKES?
There are approximately 48 million Generation Xers (ages 27 to 38) in the U.S., based on 2000 census figures. These young men and women have proven to be very practical and career-minded. Achievement, economic security and economic rewards lead their list of values. On the premise that these Xers seek careers in the industry and/or are aspiring owners and managers, the Ohio Construction Suppliers Association formed a new group to empower these future leaders. The objective of this new group is to simulate unrestricted creative thinking for educational and social merit of its members, capturing the wisdom and energy of the emerging generation, to design programs and activities that meet their needs and expectations. A committee was formed to spearhead this group, and after identifying characteristics of Xers in the lumber and building material industry, the following acronym was decided upon:

OBJECTIVE:
To promote education and advancement through networking, mentoring and social activities.
GOALS & BENEFITS:
The Proactive Leadership & Growth Committee decided the following would be initial areas of focus for SPOKES:

ELIGIBILITY:
SPOKES is open to the entire OCSA membership. Targeted initially to those 40 and younger, anyone interested in growing professionally is welcome. There are no membership dues; enroll simply by completing a SPOKES Membership Application.
